SSL Secure Sockets Layer. Protocol developed by Netscape to provide encryption for commercial transactions data that should be protected while traveling over the Internet, like credit card numbers. What is uptime? Uptime is the percentage of time that a web site is working. Any browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape) that supports them is enough, so any host will do.
